New €1.2 Billion Data Centre Project Set to Increase Housing Demand in Malaga

New €1.2 billion data centre project at Malaga TechPark expected to increase housing demand and property prices across Malaga and the Costa del Sol.

Malaga is continuing to strengthen its position as one of southern Europe’s leading technology hubs.

A week ago, we read in SUR in English about the new investment in Málaga.

The Andalusian regional government has approved a new €1.2 billion data centre project at Málaga TechPark. This strategic investment is expected to create around 710 direct construction jobs и 254 permanent, highly skilled positions, as well as up to 3,000 jobs in total during the development phase. The facility is expected to be operational by around 2031.

For the real estate sector, this is another positive signal for long-term demand across Málaga province.

Technology companies continue to attract highly qualified professionals, including engineers, IT specialists and AI experts, as well as international talent, all of whom require housing, both to buy and to rent. As Málaga’s technology ecosystem grows, there is likely to be additional pressure on an already undersupplied housing market.

As demand is growing faster than new housing construction in many areas, locations such as Málaga City, Беналмадена, Фуенхирола, Михас, Марбея и Естепона could benefit from increased demand from technology professionals seeking quality homes and an attractive lifestyle.

The Costa del Sol is no longer driven solely by tourism and retirement buyers. Technology, innovation, and international business investment are becoming increasingly important drivers of housing demand.

Projects such as this one reinforce Málaga’s transformation into a year-round economic hub and support the long-term fundamentals behind the region’s residential property market.
